About Rochester Conservatory of Music
Rochester Conservatory of Music
is a private music school located in downtown Rochester.
We have a faculty of over 30 dedicated professional teachers providing musical instruction in piano,
voice, strings, woodwinds, brass, and guitar. In addition to weekly private lessons,
our students also participate in theory classes, performance workshops, and recitals.
We also hold several festivals throughout the year, for example,
a Composer's Festival featuring the music of a particular composer,
a Jazz Festival, an Art Song Festival, a Sonatina/Sonata and Concerto Festival,
an Ensemble Festival and a Christmas Potpourri Concert to name a few.
We are a nationally Federated Music Club and every spring our students participate
in the National Federation Junior Festival. We are also very active in the downtown Rochester community,
participating in the Gallery Stroll, Lagniappe and Tree Lighting Ceremony, Older Person's Commission Events,
and the Rochester Public Library Holly Walk. We are very active in local and high school theater productions.
Our students have performed at the Palace of Auburn Hills, with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra at Orchestra Hall
and at Carnegie Hall in New York City.
In addition to our private lesson program, we also offer several group classes. Musikgarten, for ages 1-6,
is a revolutionary early childhood music education program. Researchers have come to the conclusion that
music offers improved overall development, decreased learning problems, and enhanced brain functioning
and the time to start is early childhood. Musikgarten classes are divided into three age-groups and are held throughout the week.
As a bridge between Musikgarten and private piano lessons, we offer piano classes for ages 5-6.
Using a curriculum developed by one of the Directors of the Conservatory, we prepare our very young students
for the more disciplined private program. While similar to individual study,
these young students have the added benefit of having fun with friends while learning!
Please contact us for more information on any of our programs or to enroll.
