Bassoon lessons are available in 30, 45, or 60 minute weekly lessons. Program also includes two 60 minute group classes per month: music theory fundamentals and performance workshops. Plus one formal recital per semester.
Faculty:
Mark Tarabusi holds a Master’s Degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan, both as Woodwind Specialist. He has been performing professionally for over 30 years in various musical theater orchestras, symphony and opera orchestras, bands and small ensembles around the United States and for 9 years in Europe. Theater productions include Disney’s world premiere of “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” in Berlin, “CATS” under the supervision of Andrew Lloyd Weber in Berlin, and the pre-Broadway production of “Victor/Victoria” starring Julie Andrews in Chicago.
Mr. Tarabusi has been teaching woodwinds to both children and adults at all levels for over 15 years. Several of his students have won competitions and performed in honors and youth orchestras around Michigan and in the Chicago area. Notable student accomplishments include first chair in the Detroit Symphony Civic Youth Orchestra on bassoon, first prize in the Birmingham Musicale Solo Competition on alto saxophone, and Concerto Competition finalist on clarinet at Troy Athens High School. A few of his students have even gone on to pursue music studies in college.
Camiel King graduated from Central Michigan University with a bachelor’s degree in Music Education with a focus in Instrumental/General Music and a minor for Bassoon Performance. She has been teaching private lessons on the bassoon in the St. Clair County Area since 2011 and she is very excited to expand her lessons into the Macomb County Area. She started her teaching career at East Shore Leadership Academy teaching K-8 General Music for the 2018-19 school year. She then started teaching at Gardens and Morton Elementary Schools as their General Music Teacher and 5th Grade Band Teacher for the 2019-2020, later taking on the role of Director of Bands at Marysville Middle School for 2022-2023 school year. She performs in St. Clair County Community College’s Band Concert Band on her bassoon and various different saxophones in the Jazz Band. She also has performed in numerous Pit Orchestras for different high school musicals, playing piano and bassoon. As a teacher, Miss. King hopes to have her students have fun while learning as much as they can about the instruments that they play.
